Job Description

Tempel Steel is looking to add a Core Assembly Machine Operator-2nd shift to the team. This position is responsible for supporting production of custom aluminum extrusions by cutting material according to specifications from blueprints/technical drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Build stacks of steel laminations from blueprints/technical drawings.
  • Use robotic weld cells, rivet insertion machines, angle grinders, and material handling equipment to assemble cores from steel laminations.
  • Measure components and finished product using a variety of measuring devices to ensure dimensions within required tolerances and record per QC requirements
  • Complete changeovers using hand tools and maintain equipment including but not limited to preparation of Tungsten electrodes
  • Troubleshoot machinery, material, measuring equipment, and tooling
  • Visually inspect parts and check against blueprints/technical drawings to report defects.
  • Flexible/adaptable to assignment changes, will jump in when help is needed and learn new things.
  • Always maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Run single hit presses, roll coating or other related duties as assigned or directed.

Desired Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred; Knowledge and experience of machinery in manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Preferred; Experience with LEAN manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma.
  • Preferred; Experience in a fast-paced, high performance manufacturing environment.
  • Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
  • Background check required

Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a professional office environment with frequent collaboration across Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and Operations. The role requires extended periods of computer use, regular communication with customers and internal stakeholders, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Occasional travel may be required to support business needs, customer meetings, or professional development.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and set at $22/Hour
