Looking to make an impact behind the scenes? We’re hiring a Records Specialist.

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking an individual to join our team as a Cord Blood Records Specialist in Gainesville, FL This position is responsible for the filing, organizing and maintaining cord blood donor records, conducting routine communication activities with cord blood registries and assisting with developing and maintaining departmental statistics. This position is also responsible for assisting management in the coordination of projects and for providing high-level administrative support.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

  • Perform cord blood record reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely processing in compliance with federal and state privacy and confidentiality regulations
  • Maintain records and complete all job functions in accordance with the blood center’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage cord blood unit (CBU) files and related documentation, including data entry in the Cord Blood Registry (Emtrax), and maintenance of logs, spreadsheets, and donor/CBU records
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental reports for tracking, trending, and analysis
  • Participate in quality management activities related to CBU files and processes
  • Complete exclusion reports and documentation for units deemed ineligible for listing on the national registry
  • Ensure all bankable unit files are reviewed by designated personnel within required timeframes
  • Monitor task timelines and communicate any delays to the Cord Blood Operations Manager
  • Assist in compiling, reviewing, and submitting required reports to HRSA and FDA
  • Represent Cord Blood and LifeSouth professionally in interactions with the public and participating institutions

Requirements To Be Considered

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments concurrently
  • Basic computer skills and competence with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to interact professionally with all customers, both external and internal

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Previous blood banking, quality assurance or cord blood experience
