Copy Editor CBC BC Interior (Kelowna, Kamloops or Prince George locations)
This is a full-time permanent position scheduled for 11:00 am Sunday - Thursday.
That schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.
We are looking to hire an experienced copy editor to join our team and support journalism across British Columbia and our Local Service Expansion reporters in parts of western Canada.
Reporting to the executive producer and coordinating producer, you will be responsible for the timely editing and delivery of a range of news stories — from breaking news to long-form features — to CBC’s digital and social platforms, while ensuring accuracy and balance.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to British Columbia, and will have strong ties to, and a deep understanding of, under-represented communities and equity-deserving groups across the province.
The job involves handling text copy, video, images and interactive features for a digital audience, as well as contributing to CBC’s live story pages. You must be familiar with and understand visual storytelling tools and techniques, and able to adapt to evolving technologies.
You must be a self-starter, detail-oriented and comfortable taking on responsibilities and making independent editorial decisions.
You care about the people you work with and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions, and experiences. You live and promote the values of diversity, inclusion and respectful work culture.
