COPPER FABRICATOR APPRENTICE

OVERVIEW

Job Title: Copper Fabricator Apprentice

Location: Keyport, NJ

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift. No weekends. 8-Hour Shifts plus overtime opportunities

Salary Range: $28-$30/hour.

Total Compensation Package: Paid on-the-job training, a significant pay increase upon advancing to Master Fabricator, employer-funded retirement plan, year-end bonus, health and dental insurance, sick days, and PTO

Required Experience: Hands-on mechanical experience required. No copper fabrication experience necessary. We are looking for someone who is good with their hands, enjoys figuring out how things work, and takes pride in working hard to get the job done right.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
• Cut, bend, and form copper tubing to precise dimensions using basic shop math and geometry
• Braze copper joints using an oxy-acetylene torch
• Assemble precision induction heating coils and components
• Follow strict quality control and inspection procedures
• Cross-train and assist with other builds on the shop floor as needed
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong mechanical aptitude: you're good with your hands and enjoy troubleshooting, building, and fixing things
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced craftsmen
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Comfortable with basic shop math (measurements, fractions, simple geometry)
• Valid driver's license
• Lawful permanent resident or U.S. citizen
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are nice to have, but not all necessary. Please still apply even if you don’t check all of these boxes.

• HVAC or refrigeration experience
• Automotive or diesel mechanic experience
• Military mechanical or maintenance background (e.g., tracked or wheeled vehicle mechanic, aircraft maintenance)
• Brazing, soldering, or fabrication experience. MIG/TIG is a plus, but this role is primarily brazing, not welding.
• Blueprint reading
• Mechanical assembly or manual machine shop experience

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

A family-owned manufacturer of induction heating systems is looking for its next Copper Fabricator. The company builds equipment used across aerospace and industrial manufacturing, and the copper coils at the heart of these systems are built by hand. The skill is specialized enough that it isn't taught in trade school. It's learned at the bench from experienced craftsmen, and that's exactly what this apprenticeship offers.

You'll train alongside a master fabricator to cut, form, and braze copper tubing into precision induction coils. Most apprentices build these skills within 6–12 months, with a significant pay increase when they advance to Master. This is a hands-on, shop-floor role focused on the craft: growth here means mastering the trade and earning more for it.

The team is small and close-knit, and people stay for the long haul; most team members have retired from here.
