Why This Role Matters

Christie’s Antiquities department is currently looking for an individual to support and assist with preparations for our 2023 sales. The chosen candidate will work closely with the Specialist team to aid with research and cataloguing needs, as well as the Sale Coordinator to provide business administrative support. We are looking for a hard-working, energetic, and intellectually curious self-starter who can thrive in a high-pressure environment. In addition to the Antiquities department, this individual may assist other Classic Art departments.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • General department administrative tasks as assigned by Sale Coordinator

  • Keeping all data up to date in Christie’s internal systems

  • Assisting specialists with provenance research, managing the department library and consignor files.

  • Responding to inquiries from clients for condition reports, images and fact sheets

  • Researching works for upcoming sales – including both traditional research, as well as online research using auction databases and other internet sources

  • Assist Specialists with cataloguing and condition checks for consigned property

  • Supporting the proposal preparation process

  • Assist with installing for auction previews, which includes compiling, printing, and mounting lot cards for each work

  • Support Sale Coordinator with client research; compiling spreadsheets of competitive sales, and maintaining sale analytic spreadsheets.

  • Assist other departments in the Classic Art Group as needed.

What You Will Bring To The Team

  • Exceptional client service skills including strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated with superiors, clients and peers

  • Strategic and commercially minded

  • Maintain a level-head and positive attitude in high stakes situations

  • Ability to quickly adapt, problem solve and multitask

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint

  • Additional language skills are desirable, however not mandatory

  • Strong follow-up and attention to detail

  • Strong research skills and knowledge of library systems and databases
