Job Description
Within the context of a client and family centered care model and the vision and values of the organization, the position develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates the goals, objectives and policies of the designated seniors and/or social service program(s). Supports and enhances the health, independence and quality of life of seniors in existing seniors housing, improves linkages to community, health, and social services, develops and delivers opportunities for social interaction and recreational activities and fosters partnerships with other community and health resources. Works collaboratively with elderly tenants, building managers and health and social service agencies to plan and implement activities and services for the benefit of tenants. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Sciences or other related field from a recognized institution and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with seniors and/or designated client population, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Current Food Safe Level I. Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes, as required.Knowledge & AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, to set priorities, organize work and meet deadlines.Broad knowledge of health care and social service systems, as well as community resources, service mandates, and referral guidelines. Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to tenants and their support network.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to work independently and in cooperation with othersAbility to plan, organize, and prioritizeAbility to establish and maintain rapport with clientsAbility to superviseAbility to analyze and resolve problemsLeadership skillsAbility to speak publiclyKnowledge of HIV and STDs and their impact on the communityAbility to operate related equipmentPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the positionThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
