Job Description

Hiring Company:

Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc.The Safety and Health Coordinator is responsible for engaging employees in creating a positive safety work culture while implementing the company safety programs and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations that pertain to Safety & Health. This position is an extension of the Safety Manager on the 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track and enforce the safety training requirements for 2nd and 3rd shift
  • Conduct department audits while engaging employees in safety requirements and promotions
  • Perform job task in all departments periodically to analyze JSAs and safety indicators
  • Perform root cause analysis for incident investigations to develop meaningful corrective actions that will provide long term mitigation results
  • Assist with all training of employees, vendors and visitors.
  • Assist in establishing Safety & Health goals for the facility that will increase the safety culture producing a workforce and workplace that is incident free
  • Communicate effectively with management to provide a positive safety culture for the facility.
  • Be capable of developing and/or translating training program that will enhance the message intended for communication to the employee.
  • Attend huddle meetings to ensure the safety message is properly conveyed to employees.

  • Respond promptly to employee concerns and ensure follow up with employee requesting information or assistance
  • Report and develop corrective actions for critical situations including Environmental issues on the 2nd and 3rd shift
  • Receive purchased items in oracle
  • Ensure KPI's and OSHA documentation is properly managed in lntelex
  • Assist the medical staff with injuries/incidents and required medical screenings
  • Actively participate with the safety teams at the facility (Haz Mat)
  • Actively participated with Safety Committees and ensure employee engagement
  • Conduct statistical analysis to assist management with development of programs to ensure compliance and a safe working environment
  • Attend meetings on 2nd/3rd shift to ensure safety information is communicated and operational information is received and communicated to the Safety Manager
  • Send out all safety reports as directed by the Safety Manager (Daily Safety Communication).
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor 1s Degree in Safety Management or experience in related field.
  • 2-5 years' experience preferred (consideration given to strong candidate at an entry level).
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Able to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Continued professional enhancement through education and certifications

Language Skills

  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees both verbally and in writing.

Certificates, Licenses and Registration

  • Minimal EMT certification a plus.
  • Ability to obtain instructor/trainer certifications for required Safety and Health programs
  • Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)
  • Drug Screening

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to move throughout the facility.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to write and type.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum 50lbs.

Work Environment

  • Employee will be exposed to all types of environments: Hot, cold, wet, dry, & noisy.
