The Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet oversees the maintenance planning team to ensure an effective Planning process. Ensure effective communication with execution and support teams to minimize downtime and optimize asset reliability. This role ensures compliance with maintenance standards, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the planning team in developing and continuously improving maintenance plans and schedules for the fleet assigned in Mine Maintenance (e.g., haul trucks, shovels, drills, and auxiliary equipment).

  • Ensure maintenance plans comply with OEM recommendations, safety regulations, and the Strategic Asset Management Plan. (SAMP)

  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of the +12 weeks Plan, including PMs, change-out components, and corrective maintenance.

  • Coordinate with operations, reliability, warehouse, and execution teams to align maintenance activities and minimize equipment downtime.

  • Monitor work order backlogs, ensuring appropriate prioritization and follow-up.

  • Participate in validating and approving job plans, task lists, man-hour estimates, and material requirements.

  • Ensure accurate data entry into PRONTO.

  • Lead the planning meetings and facilitate communication between departments.

  • Support shutdown planning and execution for major maintenance events (PCR, Overhauls)

  • Track maintenance KPIs (e.g., schedule compliance, PM compliance, Work request process) and lead initiatives to improve planning performance.

  • Coach and mentor the Scheduler and Planners, ensuring compliance with planning procedures and best practices.

  • Lead the development of the Budget Maintenance on zero-based budgeting for the entire fleet.

  • Lead the Develop the Forecast Maintenance Cost 2+10, 5+7, 7+5 and ensure all activities are aligned in PRONTO.

  • Ensure the compliance of Work Management in Kansanshi.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.

  • Grade twelve (12) school certificate or equivalent.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Welding Structural Specialist.

  • Extensive knowledge in ERP systems such as Pronto.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.

  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

  • Strong understanding and capability of positive safety culture, practical application of risk assessment, hazard identification/controls, and incident management/reporting.

  • All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA ).
