Job Description

Position Summary:

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, as guided by Catholic Social Teaching, by developing and maintaining relationships with businesses, civic organizations, and community partners throughout the 21 counties of the Archdiocese. Serve as point of contact for community partners and coordinate opportunities for volunteerism, internships, education, donations, and other forms of engagement. Collaborate with Catholic Charities staff to identify organizational needs, develop community partnerships, coordinate outreach activities and events, and connect individuals and organizations to opportunities to support the mission of Catholic Charities. Work collaboratively with the department to achieve departmental goals, support strategic priorities, and contribute to the overall success and effectiveness of the department. EEO.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, civic organizations, chambers, and community partners throughout the 21 counties of the Archdiocese.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities for volunteerism, internships, donations, education, and other forms of community engagement.
  • Represent Catholic Charities at networking, chamber, tabling, and community events; lead the Chamber Captain program.
  • Develop partnerships and outreach opportunities in rural Family Support Center communities.

Volunteer & Event Coordination

  • Coordinate and host business, civic, and community group Serve Days, and other group service opportunities.
  • Plan and execute outreach events, including Hope Talks, chamber events, presentations, and other community activities.
  • Coordinate event logistics, communications, materials, scheduling, speakers, facilities, and follow-up.
  • Provide presentations and represent Catholic Charities at community, civic, and business events.

Internship & University Partnerships

  • Recruit, place, and support college and university students participating in Catholic Charities internships.
  • Maintain relationships with universities, placement sites, students, and supervisors and coordinate interviews, onboarding, orientations, training, check-ins, and feedback.
  • Promote internship and engagement opportunities through university partnerships, tabling events, and other outreach channels.

Collaboration & Administration

  • Collaborate with Outreach, Volunteer Engagement, Development, Mission Operations, Marketing, Family Support Centers, and program staff to coordinate community engagement and respond to organizational needs.
  • Maintain calendars, contact information, schedules, engagement records, and available opportunities using LGL, SharePoint, SignUp Genius, and other systems.
  • Track and report outreach, volunteer, internship, and community engagement activity.
  • Manage partner communications, including invitations, confirmations, reminders, thank-you communications, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, supplies, and other logistical needs for outreach activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas and an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with individuals and organizations from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in community outreach, nonprofit, volunteer engagement, relationship management, event coordination, or a related field preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and relationships.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with databases and other online scheduling or communication platforms preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance, and a verified safe driving record.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and other required training.
  • Employees are not required to be Catholic; however, employees of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas must understand that they are visible representatives of the Archdiocesan Church and must not publicly oppose the teachings of the Catholic Faith or publicly advocate for positions contrary to Catholic teaching or the specific positions of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas or the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, including through public speech, demonstrations, writing, social media, or other digital technologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and moving
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must have the physical ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Must have the physical ability and appropriate licensure for driving
