TIES (Together Including Every Student) is a program that promotes the participation of students and young adults who have developmental disabilities in inclusive, organized extracurricular and community activities with the support of trained student volunteers.
High school graduate (or GED equivalent);
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
Excellent time management.
Preferred:
Two (2) year degree;
Experience working or volunteering with children, students, and families with Developmental Disabilities;
Preference given to a parent of a current or former special education student enrolled in the Greece Central School District or neighboring district.
Share TIES program design and implementation with school and community leaders;
Match participants with student volunteers and develop individual support plans;
Provide support to the participant, volunteer and the activity leader through telephone calls;
Help to problem-solve situations and assist with training;
Evaluate the experience of each participant, volunteer and activity leader;
Recruit and train peer student volunteers;
Attend regular meetings with the TIES Program Director and Executive Director/Director of Pupil Personnel Services or to report progress;
Other duties as assigned.
All new employees must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment through the NYSED before employment begins.
