ABOUT OUR DISTRICT:

The Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation with the goal of ensuring that all students graduate high school with the skills needed to be ready for college and career. The School Board and Syracuse community have charged the Superintendent with improving student achievement, and she is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with her in moving the district toward its goals.

The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The Coordinator of Integrated Student Supports develops resources, builds key partnerships, coordinates, organizes, and assesses programs and services designed to support students with access to basic needs: food, housing, and transportation. The position acts as a liaison, consultant, and organizer across SCSD departments such as student support social workers and crisis response teams, family engagement staff, school nurses and health-based clinics, transportation and food services departments. The role coordinates basic needs resources across the district to support and equip frontline school staff to more effectively support student wellbeing, growth, and academic success.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support Services

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Coordinate and perform a variety of specialized duties to support a resource center available to school social workers and crisis response workers

  • In coordination with the Basic Needs Center, support high school-based food pantry operations

  • Coordinate basic needs efforts across SCSD to more effectively address needs, triage priorities, and maximize impact

  • Liaise between Social Work, Office of Family Engagement, and School Administrators to facilitate district-wide system and approach to student and family needs that is both intentional, meaningful, goal-oriented, and responsive to each school building

  • Assist with the planning, organizing, and providing basic needs support services, workshops, professional development, and meetings for SCSD staff in coordination with Student Support Services: Example of Food Access Work (not limited to): Facilitate Weekend Pack Program, Gratitude Meal Kit Program, Food Rescue Redistribution, Fresh Produce Pop Ups during summer school, emergency food resources, SNAP referral system, use and referral to programs such as Healthy Alliance Social Care Network 1115 Medicaid Waver

  • Establish local and regional collaborative relationships and partnerships with community organizations, business entities, and community-based partners pertaining to student basic needs (food bank staff, housing resources, food pantries, local foundations, and other non-profit entities to support students to secure resources)

  • Participate in community-wide coalitions, boards, and meetings to coordinate efforts with existing community resources to achieve more, together

  • Facilitate SCSD staff feedback on the effectiveness of the work of this role and other related programs aimed at supporting SCSD students with basic needs

  • Facilitate family and student feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of this work and other related programs aimed at supporting SCSD students with basic needs

  • Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of effective interventions across schools and district alternative programs for students at-risk.

SALARY/SALARY RANGE:

  • Salary and benefits pursuant to the Unit 2 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The starting salary for the 2026-2027 school year is $116,981.
