The Coordinator, Nursing Excellence supports the advancement of professional nursing practice across NGHS by coordinating activities within the Professional Nursing Governance structure, facilitating policy and procedure management, and promoting a culture of excellence. This role serves as a key contributor to the Pathway to Excellence® program, ensuring alignment with its standards and fostering a healthy work environment that supports nurse engagement, shared decision-making, and professional growth.
Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Required: Professional certification in either a clinical, leadership, or education specialty within 2 years. Professional organization membership within three months of hire into the role.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
Minimum Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of direct care RN nursing experience with a minimum of one (1) year in an acute care facility.
Other: Professional organization membership within three (3) months of hire into the role.
Preferred Licensure or other certifications:
Preferred Educational Requirements: Master's Degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN) within five years.
Preferred Experience: Previous project development and group facilitation. Skilled in use of Word, Excel, and Sharepoint.

Excellent written and communication skills with all levels throughout NGMC; ability to provide presentations to diverse audiences.

Ability to master and provide system administrator IT functions for electronic support systems (i.e. such as MCN and SharePoint).
Ability to assess, plan, implement, execute, evaluate, and redirect for continuous process/outcome improvements.
Provision of expert advice and educational support on standards and support systems.
Works in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to perform computer tasks and demands.
Supports coordination of policies and procedures for patient care areas within NGMC.
Utilizes the Professional Nursing Governance (PNG) structure to support the coordination of policies and procedures for patient care areas within NGMC.
Promotes evidenced-based practice in development and utilization of clinical protocols and standards of practice.
Collaborates with PNG sub-councils to facilitate policy and procedure reviews and incorporation of evidence-based practices.
Assures that policies/procedures are developed as needed relative to the clinical practice models.
Assists in development and implementation of standard work for systematic clinical policies and procedure review.
Validates clinical practices within the legal boundaries of professional nursing through the scope of practice.
Successfully completes mentoring class. Assists with mentoring of Registered Nurses when other mentor resources have been assigned. May mentor more as desired.
Provides and coordination for the Pathway to Excellence® program, serving as the primary contact for Pathway-related activities, standards alignment, documentation, and ongoing readiness efforts that promote a healthy work environment, nurse engagement, and professional practice excellence.
Leads and supports Professional Nursing Governance processes by coordinating council operations, facilitating shared decision-making, and ensuring governance decisions are documented, communicated, and accessible across the nursing enterprise.
Oversees the management and integrity of patient care policies, procedures, and standard work, ensuring structured review processes, appropriate approvals, timely updates, and alignment with professional nursing practice and organizational standards.
Serves as a central liaison between nursing leadership, councils, and stakeholders to facilitate efficient policy review, expedited practice changes when necessary, and consistent implementation across the organization.
Promotes transparency and engagement within nursing by coordinating communication of governance decisions, practice changes, and professional expectations through established platforms and routine updates.
Maintains enterprise-level resources that support professional nursing practice, including governance documentation, competency frameworks, and practice-related repositories, in collaboration with nursing leadership.
Supports nursing recognition programs (DAISY and BEE Awards) to reinforce a culture of appreciation, excellence, and professional pride, ensuring meaningful recognition and organizational visibility.
Collaborates with Nursing Excellence leadership and administrative partners to support meetings, events, and initiatives that advance professional nursing practice and nursing excellence across NGHS.
