Salary Range: $24.00 - $30.00 Hourly,

Family Ministry Coordinator

1. Family Faith Formation

• Coordinate faith formation opportunities for children, parents, and families.
• Organize family catechesis, retreats, workshops, and parish missions.
• Develop resources that help parents practice the Catholic faith at home.
• Create opportunities for families to pray together and learn about Scripture.
• Coordinate family-oriented Advent, Lent, and Easter activities.

1. Marriage and Parenting Ministry

• Organize programs for married couples, including communication, conflict resolution, prayer, and spirituality.
• Offer parenting workshops addressing different stages of family life.
• Develop opportunities for couples to strengthen their marriages.
• Coordinate marriage enrichment events and retreats.
• Connect couples and parents with appropriate professional or pastoral resources when additional help is needed.

1. Family Events

• Plan regular parish events specifically designed for families.
• Examples:
• Family movie nights
• Family game nights
• Parish picnics
• Family service days
• Father/child and mother/child events
• Advent and Christmas celebrations
• Family Lenten activities
• Easter activities
• Family pilgrimage days
• Make sure events are welcoming to families with children of different ages.

1. Connecting Families to Parish Life

• Personally welcome new families to the parish.
• Develop a system for contacting families who have recently registered.
• Help families find ministries where they can participate.
• Encourage parents and children to become involved in service, liturgical ministries, youth ministry, and small groups.
• Identify families who have stopped participating and develop appropriate ways to reconnect with them.

1. Family Service and Outreach

• Create opportunities for families to serve together.
• Coordinate family participation in parish outreach programs.
• Develop service projects involving parents and children.
• Connect families with local charitable organizations.
• Encourage families to see service as part of their Catholic identity.

1. Parent Communication

• Maintain regular communication with parents through email, parish communications, and social media.
• Create a monthly or quarterly Family Ministry Newsletter.
• Provide parents with practical resources for prayer and faith formation at home.
• Maintain an updated calendar of family activities.
• Make sure parents know about opportunities available to their families.

1. Small Groups and Community Building

• Develop small groups for married couples and families.
• Recruit and train family-group leaders.
• Help families build friendships with other Catholic families.
• Create groups based on particular needs, such as young families, parents of teenagers, or newly married couples.
• Encourage families to gather outside of formal parish programs.

1. Support for Families in Difficult Situations

• Help identify families experiencing significant challenges.
• Coordinate pastoral support for families experiencing illness, death, separation, unemployment, or other difficulties.
• Connect families with parish resources and appropriate professional services.
• Work closely with the pastor, deacons, and other pastoral staff when a family requires additional pastoral attention.

1. Volunteer Recruitment and Formation

• Recruit parishioners to serve in family ministry.
• Develop volunteer teams rather than personally doing every task.
• Train volunteers in hospitality, child safety, communication, and Catholic family ministry.
• Schedule and coordinate volunteers for family events.
• Thank and recognize volunteers regularly.

1. Youth Ministries

• Lead and grow ministry opportunities for early childhood through high school aged children.
• Plan and facilitate monthly youth gatherings or special events.
• Build authentic relationships with young people through teaching, mentoring and discipleship.
• Elementary School Religious Education Support: Provide engaging, faith-filled lessons and support for elementary religion classes. Collaborate closely with Our Lady of Hope teachers to develop meaningful learning experiences that help students deepen their knowledge, understanding, and love of the Catholic faith.
• Coordinate service projects, outreach and social-justice opportunities for youth.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology or Education is preferred.

Catholic Ministry Experience: Experience working in a Catholic parish, particularly in family ministry or religious education is strongly valued.

Technology & Communication Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Outlook, Facebook, Instagram, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and website/content management platforms.

Communication & Organization: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, coordinate schedules, and work effectively with staff, volunteers, families, and parishioners.

Compensation DOE

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
