Gibraltar Mine is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our Environmental Department. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional to support key monitoring programs, data analysis, and compliance activities at one of Canada’s largest open-pit copper mines.

The successful candidate will contribute to surface water, groundwater, hydrometric, reclamation, and field instrumentation programs while supporting environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting. The role involves compiling and interpreting environmental data, coordinating field activities, and collaborating with operational teams to promote environmental stewardship and continuous improvement across the site. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with senior environmental staff, strengthen technical expertise, and contribute meaningfully to maintaining Gibraltar’s high environmental performance standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating the Taseko-Gibraltar Field Monitoring program onsite, in accordance with the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia and applicable permits/regulations.
  • Preparation of Annual Environmental Report.
  • Preparation of Quarterly Water Quality Report.
  • Preparation of internal Monthly Environmental Report.
  • Management of ML/ARD monitoring program.
  • Management of Hydrometric Program.
  • Supervise Environmental Monitors and Technicians.
  • Coordinate Sampling and Environmental Inspection Schedule.
  • Manage water, air, and soil quality database
  • Manage meteorological data and support equipment maintenance.
  • Support permitting and compliance activities.

Education & Experience

  • 2-5 years of environmental experience, ideally in the field of water quality or environmental management.
  • Proficientat technical writing, communication, and presenting.
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal regulations as they relate to mining and the environment.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS will be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working with ATV, UTV, and snowmobiles will be an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite.
  • Experience with Database management, such as Monitor Pro, will be an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or database tools is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and ability to work in a field environment as required.
