The successful candidate will be a member of the firm’s Business Development group and will play a key role in the execution of the firm’s national business development initiatives across its offices, working closely with the Business Development leaders in Toronto, Montréal, Calgary and Vancouver. The Coordinator, Directories & Business Development Initiatives will be specifically responsible for coordinating the firm’s directories and awards programs and assisting with other business development initiatives at the firm. They are also expected to develop an in depth understanding of our lawyers, practice groups and client base.

This position reports to the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Directories, Awards, Recognitions and Nominations (DARN)

  • Work with the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives, cross-country Business Development leads, practice group heads and firm management to review, update and implement the firm’s directory and awards strategy
  • Coordinate the firm’s annual legal directory and awards programs (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500, Lexpert, etc.), including project management, administrative responsibilities, progress tracking and submission coordination
  • Manage the entire life cycle of directory submissions and deal award nominations
  • Maintain, update and project manage the national directories schedule/calendar and ensure that submission deadlines are met
  • Manage the firm’s participation in directory and award events
  • Work with the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives to conduct competitive analysis of directory and award results, and track performance over time
  • Work with the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives to assess results and liaise with the firm’s Marketing department to maximize visibility for the firm and its lawyers
  • Manage, update and maintain the firm’s rankings and quote catalogues, as well as any other DARN and related databases
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the firm’s lawyers, practice groups, client base and overall business

Business Development Initiatives

  • Assist the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives on various process automation and improvement efforts within the Business Development group
  • Work closely with the Business Development leads across the country to support other business development strategies, initiatives and projects
  • Provide proactive and on-going support to the Director, Business Development & National Initiatives on various business development strategies, initiatives and projects, including general administrative support.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in law, business, marketing, or communications
  • A background in project management or project coordination is considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in business development, marketing, communications or project management
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is considered an asset
  • Training and/or experience in data analytics and an interest in process improvement

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills on matters involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly professional with initiative, sound judgement and client service skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across various offices, as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail while managing concurrent projects
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Salary Range (Toronto Only):

$50,000 - $65,000 annually
