The University of New Mexico’s Facility Services is seeking a dedicated Coordinator, Custodial Services for our Health Sciences Center (HSC) side of campus to oversee custodial operations and ensure our campus facilities shine with excellence.

In this role, you’ll coordinate the daily custodial functions of a designated University unit, providing guidance to custodial staff while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates the work of other staff members as appropriate to the position; monitoring work assignments, setting schedules, and providing on-going training.
  2. Inspects work areas to ensure consistency and quality of work and adherence to established procedures, safety regulations, and infection control standards.
  3. Ensures customer requests are fulfilled in a timely manner; may assist with project planning and coordination.
  4. Assists with purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment; maintains applicable inventories.
  5. Trains employees on cleaning and equipment techniques, methods and procedures.
  6. Maintains open and cooperative communication with external vendors and suppliers.
  7. Maintains records of work performed.
  8. Ensures adherence to established University and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  9. May perform general maintenance, custodial and trash removal tasks.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Please Note: This position is assigned to the Health Sciences Center (HSC) and may involve working in medical laboratory, clinical, and academic environments. HSC assignments may require the use of medically approved personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, this position is subject to overtime and on-call assignments, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support campus operations.

La División de Servicios de Instalaciones (Facility Services) de la Universidad de Nuevo México (UNM) busca un(a) Coordinador(a) de Servicios de Custodia dedicado(a) para nuestro campus del Centro de Ciencias de la Salud (Health Sciences Center, HSC), con el objetivo de supervisar las operaciones de limpieza y garantizar que nuestras instalaciones mantengan los más altos standages de excelencia.

En este puesto, usted coordinará las funciones diarias de limpieza de una unidad universitaria designada, brindando orientación al personal de custodia y asegurando altos niveles de limpieza, seguridad y servicio al cliente.

Deberes y Responsabilidades

  1. Coordina el trabajo de otros miembros del personal según corresponda al puesto; supervisa las asignaciones de trabajo, establece horarios y proporciona capacitación continua.
  2. Inspecciona las áreas de trabajo para garantizar la consistencia y calidad del trabajo, así como el cumplimiento de los procedimientos establecidos, regulaciones de seguridad y normas de control de infecciones.
  3. Garantiza que las solicitudes de los clientes se atiendan de manera oportuna; puede ayudar con la planificación y coordinación de proyectos.
  4. Colabora en la compra de materiales, suministros y equipos; mantiene los inventarios correspondientes.
  5. Capacita a los empleados en técnicas, métodos y procedimientos de limpieza, así como en el uso adecuado de equipos.
  6. Mantiene una comunicación abierta y colaborativa con proveedores y vendedores externos.
  7. Mantiene registros del trabajo realizado.
  8. Garantiza el cumplimiento de las políticas y procedimientos establecidos por la Universidad y el departamento, así como de los objetivos, programas de aseguramiento de calidad y normas de seguridad.
  9. Puede realizar tareas generales de mantenimiento, limpieza y recolección de basura.
  10. Realiza otras funciones relacionadas con el puesto según sean asignadas.

Este puesto está asignado al Centro de Ciencias de la Salud (HSC) y puede implicar trabajo en entornos de laboratorios médicos, clínicas y áreas académicas. Las asignaciones en el HSC pueden requerir el uso de equipo de protección personal (EPP) aprobado para entornos médicos.

Además, este puesto está sujeto a horas extra y asignaciones de guardia, que pueden incluir trabajo durante las noches, fines de semana y días festivos, según sea necesario para apoyar las operaciones del campus.

Conditions of Employment

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Less than high school; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of custodial methods, chemicals, and equipment, with an emphasis on green cleaning practices and sustainability.
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with work order system.
  • Understanding of inventory control and vendor management for custodial supplies and services.
