
The successful candidate is expected to teach course work in the graduate investigations programs at the University of New Haven. Most of these courses are consistent with the faculty member’s area of expertise, that of major crime investigations and other general courses such as Criminal Law and Procedure, Fraud Investigations, and Survey of Forensics. In addition, this candidate must be competent in advising and mentoring students at the graduate level, assist the program director with scheduling courses and instructors. The successful candidate should also display innovative approaches to teaching, course development and content, and assist in recruiting students (includes University paid travel to conferences and other events). Professional development is a key element to this position as well.
Minimum requirement is a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or some closely related discipline. Practical experience and courtroom testimony are required. The successful candidate must have significant knowledge and experience in all aspects of major crime investigation including evidence packaging, collection and processing, and a strong foundation in best practices in investigations. Previous extensive online teaching experience in higher education is required. The successful candidate must be willing to teach nights and weekends.
The University of New Haven is home to one of the very first and still unique investigations programs in the United States that focuses on financial, economic and fraud crimes and intersects with issues such as human trafficking, cybercrime, digital forensics and consumer protection. Our graduates can be found in, local and state police departments, coroners’ offices, federal agencies and the private sector throughout the United States and abroad. We are in the process of developing a white-collar crime center on campus, developing online training platforms, and redefining the investigative services education.
