What You’ll Do
- Supervise, schedule, and support lifeguards and swim instructors
- Ensure safety standards and risk management practices are followed at all times
- Lead in-service trainings and ongoing skill development
- Support swim lesson programming and participant experience

- Help create a pool environment where every member feels they belong
What You Bring
- Current lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
- CPR/AED & First Aid certification
- Experience supervising or leading staff (aquatics preferred)
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- A commitment to safety, inclusion, and youth development
Bonus points for
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) or WSI certification
- Experience with program scheduling and staff development

POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator, Aquatics working as part of the branch management team, will help deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The incumbent oversees many aspects of programming including development, swim lessons, swim team, open swim, while ensuring a safe and clean aquatic department. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain pool safety when delivering swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students with the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level
- Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required
- Remain current on all CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training
- Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms
- Proactively clean up and/or repair areas used by the program
- Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals
- Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets
- Be in the water 50-100% of class time
- Communicate with all participants/parents regarding the status of classes
- Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
- 21 years of age or older
- Must have American Red Cross/YMCA Lifeguard certification
- YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification -preferred
- Previous experience as a supervisor preferred
- Previous experience with pool maintenance and swimming lessons preferred
- Current CPR for professional rescuer, AED and Oxygen Administration
- Certified Pool Operator Certificate preferred, otherwise must obtain with 6 months of hire.
