This position will ensure day to day management of aquatic services which includes leadership of, Duty Supervisors, Aquatic Operations Team Leaders and subsequent Lifeguard Teams, and aquatic operations across Sunbury aquatic facilities.

The position of Coordinator Aquatic Services is a 12-month contract role based at our Splash Aqua Park & Leisure Centre (Splash) It's responsible for ensuring high quality aquatic and recreation opportunities to residents and visitors in a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment through the development and promotion of excellence and professionalism in aquatic services and operations within Hume Leisure facilities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide high level leadership to the team of Duty Supervisors, Aquatic Operations team Leaders and lifeguard teams to foster a positive culture aligned with Hume Values and guiding behaviours.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all facility users by maintaining compliance with safety guidelines and regulations, and implement regular reviews to uphold high-quality standards in aquatic operations.
  • Lead the Aquatic Operations Team in recruitment, onboarding, rostering, training, and development of the Lifeguard teams, ensuring adequate staffing levels at all facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and review risk assessments, processes, and procedures for aquatic services and operations, with support from the Coordinator Compliance and Safety.
  • Manage service contracts related to Aquatic and Pool Operations, ensuring compliance with legislative and contract requirements for optimal asset management.
  • Collaborate with Pool Plant Contractors to address equipment issues, facilitate routine works, and approve remedial works to minimize service downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding service interruptions or actions impacting customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the delivery of Watch around Water and Swim Safe Programs, engaging all leaders to implement these initiatives.
  • Investigate safety incidents, undertake corrective actions, and support Pool Safety Audits preparation and record provision.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial, health and safety, industry, and legal obligations.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience relating to pool plant and equipment operation.
  • Proven ability to manage service contracts and collaborate with contractors to maintain facility operations.
  • Deep understanding and experience with leading watch around water and swim safe programs.
  • Ability to gain cooperation and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, determine the appropriate action and respond accordingly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety guidelines and regulations for aquatic operations, with experience in implementing compliance measures.
  • Ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders and collaborate internally to address operational challenges and specialized issues in managing leisure centre services and facilities.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement various promotional activities.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications (at degree or diploma level) relating to aquatic facility management and operations with relevant experience or a combination of lesser qualifications and substantial relevant industry experience.
  • Pool Operator’s Certificate or equivalent or demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge to operate public pool plant and equipment.
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid qualifications and CPR qualifications.
  • Current valid Working with Children Check.
  • Current driver’s license.
