Cook - Nursing Home
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team at our caring and community-focused nursing home. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing nutritious, delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents while maintaining a warm and welcoming kitchen environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being and comfort of our residents through quality food service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and residents' specific nutritional requirements
- Plan menus that are balanced, appealing, and meet health standards
- Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in a safe, hygienic manner following health and safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure continuous food availability
- Collaborate with nursing staff and dietitians to accommodate special dietary restrictions and preferences
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation policies and procedures
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, nursing home, or similar setting
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and nutritional needs of elderly residents
- Ability to follow recipes and food preparation guidelines accurately
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
