The Cooking Tech 1 position performs the cooking of various meat products under the supervision and direction of the Pit Supervisor.
Essential Functions

Performs the loading of raw meat product onto racks located inside the pits
Performs the unloading of cooked meat product out of the pits and onto racks
Identifies products and distinguishes between species
Performs the cleaning/washing down of a pit
Assembles and disassembles the racks inside the pits
Performs daily inspection of the bushings, pins and washers on the racks
Transports racks full of meat from pits to the scale, and then to the chill cell
Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time
Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of gloves, use of a company approved frock and rubber boots, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to hot temperatures as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee is also exposed to high levels of smoke produced by the burning wood. The floors in the environment are often wet and/or greasy and can be slippery.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required
The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend
The employee will frequently handle both cold and hot meat products (protective gloves are provided)

This is a full-time position. 40+ hours per week.
