VACANCY NOTICE- SERVICE

Job Title Cook III, Half-Time

Location: Flemington Elementary School

To Whom Responsible: Building Administrator/Director of Child Nutrition

Selection: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.

Employment Term: 200 day employment, 10:00am to 2:00pm

Effective Date Upon Board Approval

JOB GOAL: To provide assistance to the Cafeteria Manager in the preparation, service and clean-up required with the Child Nutrition Services Program

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid Food Handler's Card and meet all local and state health requirements
• Have the ability to communicate, read, write, make basic calculations and follow written and oral instructions
• Have basic computer skills to perform tasks needed for communication (email) and reports (Word & Excel)
• Have the ability to manage time
• Have a thorough knowledge of the proper use and care of equipment used in a school kitchen
• Be in good health, average physical strength with the capability to lift large containers of food and supplies (50 pounds maximum)

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/INDICATORS

1. Become acquainted with county and school policies and with the assigned duties.
2. Be interested in the school and in the welfare of the children.
3. Observe the working hours, operating policies and all established local, state and federal regulations.
4. Maintain all lunchroom and kitchen equipment in a clean, sanitary manner.
5. Utilize all government-distributed foods to the fullest extent possible, observing the first-in, first-out policy.
6. Requisition the necessary food and supplies to prepare and serve the county planned menu.
7. Supervise the serving of required portions and meal components for a reimbursable breakfast, lunch, and/or snack school meal.
8. Maintain a perpetual inventory of all food, supplies, and equipment.
9. Consider the school lunchroom and kitchen as a "workshop" and strive to work carefully and efficiently, observing all nutritional requirements and sanitary standards in the preparation and service of school meals.
10. Be responsive to the suggestions of the Child Nutrition Director, principal and cafeteria manager and accept the responsibilities delegated by them.
11. Attend all county Child Nutrition workshops and training programs.
12. Be neatly dressed in clean washable clothing and wear a hairnet while performing duties in the kitchen.
13. Follow proper procedures in the storage of food and supplies.
14. Report any equipment needing repairs to the Cafeteria Manager or Child Nutrition Director.
15. Assist the Cafeteria Manager in the kitchen and dining areas.
16. Assist in the service of school meals.
17. Assist in the clean-up of kitchen and dining area.
18. Complete accurate daily production records.
19. Become familiar with and perform " line point of service" tasks on the Primero Edge computer program.
20. Perform basic computer tasks, such as email, reports submitted in Word, and Market Orders submitted in Excel.
21. Work to establish and maintain a good rapport at all times with staff.
22. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as supervisors may assign.
