In accordance with West Virginia Code §18A-2-7b, Monroe County Schools will be implementing the "Stay Put Rule." The WV Legislature has determined that frequent teacher changes—especially in elementary grades—are not in the best interest of students. As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days preceding the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.

Monroe County Schools is an equal opportunity education institution and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex and disability in its activities, programs or employment practices as required by Title VI, Title IX and Section 504.

For information regarding civil rights or grievance procedures, contact Heather Broyles, Title IX Coordinator/Section 504 Coordinator, at the Monroe County Board of Education Office, 9875 Willow Bend Rd., Union, West Virginia, 24983, 304-772-3094, extension 314.
