Job Description

Full Time Cook needed for a 14 bed facility. Temporary position from 7/1/26 - 9/10-26.

The Cook at ELC will be responsible for preparing and cooking food products including meals and snacks according to menus and dietary plans. The Cook will help maintain the kitchen and food storage area. The Cook will deliver food to the units per meal plan and schedules or upon request. The Cook will assist in purchasing food products.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Servsafe Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a cook.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and cooking meals and snacks according to menus and dietary plans.
  • Participate with the IDT in developing care plans including dietary needs and desires of residents.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen and storage areas.
  • Ensure quality and integrity of food is highly satisfactory and meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Serve meals on the unit to residents at meal time.
  • Stock and rotate snacks on unit refrigerators.
  • Assist with shopping and purchasing of food items.
  • Help with meal prep and service for special events.
  • Stay updated on trends in food services including new recipes and preparation methods through continuing education, seminars, webinars, periodicals, and other means.

DOCUMENTATION & WRITING

  • Complete documentation and writing responsibilities in a timely, accurate, actual, objective, detailed, and neat manner using correct spelling and grammar.
  • Review, sign, and document appropriate action on all reports in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 20 pounds, and push and pull against potential resistance.
  • Adequate vision, reading, writing and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to maintain assigned work hours, having sufficient endurance to perform tasks over extended periods.
