We are looking for a Full time Cook to join our team at Coville Assisted Living This position will be responsible for daily lunch and dinner production for 35 residents within Coville Assisted Living- a beautiful senior community located in Oak Park, Michigan.

LINE COOK SUMMARY

Candidates should support team work and be excited about expanding on their culinary abilities. Candidates also need to be service oriented and enjoy a fast paced work environment.

Participate in the meal preparation as well as cold food prep. Complete assigned daily kitchen production. Responsibility of proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen, dining areas, trash disposal areas, equipment, cookware, dishes, etc. in their work area. Perform inventory and stock tasks as directed. Assist with all functions of the Coville kitchen as well as supporting the main community kitchen for meal service tasks as directed by supervisors.

LINE COOK ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Prepares all required food products as scheduled in the cycle menu, to include any catering or other special functions using production sheets and approved recipes
  • Follows proper handling, preparation and holding guidelines, takes temperatures at regular intervals and maintains foods in sufficient quantities while minimizing over-production and waste
  • Dating and labeling of all products
  • Properly presents all food items and to provide maximum appeal and freshness
  • Follows HACCP procedures and practices
  • Maintains kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning schedule
  • Ensures proper communication with service personnel on proper portioning, plating, garnishing and presentation of food items
  • Communicates appropriately with all food service staff, supervisor and listens effectively
  • Prepare and cook meals according to the daily menu, following established recipes and dietary guidelines
  • Monitor food and dry goods inventory, and properly store food supplies
  • Collaborate with dining supervisor, dining room manager, and volunteers to ensure smooth service during meal times
  • Interact respectfully and positively with residents, guests, volunteers, and team members
  • Offer suggestions for seasonal or daily specials
  • Performs any duty requested by management to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the kitchen and dining department
  • Ability to work 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year of cooking experience. High School Diploma or GED required.
