Job Description

The Hotel Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food for restaurant guests, in-room dining, banquets, meetings, and special events. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by maintaining consistency, food quality, and adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Support food production for the hotel's restaurant, room service, banquets, and catering events.
  • Ensure all food products are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Maintain quality, consistency, and portion control standards.
  • Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and cooking ingredients.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of product shortages.
  • Properly receive, label, store, and rotate food products following FIFO procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
  • Follow all health, safety, and food handling regulations.
  • Assist with banquet and event setup, service, and breakdown as required.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, stewards, and service staff to ensure seamless operations.
  • Minimize food waste and contribute to cost control initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Cook in a hotel, restaurant, banquet, or catering environment preferred.
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent training is an asset.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Ability to work in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
