Job Description

Nature and Scope

The Cook prepares, seasons and cooks meals for patients, visitors and employees using a production sheet per Patient Diet Order, Employee Food Order forms and departmental luncheon orders. The Cook duties also include, but are not limited to, the following: Preparation and execution of maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen per state and federal guidelines; general cleaning both per posted schedule and as needed; and performing general department duties as requested and needed.

Compensation

Compensation for Benefited, Part-Time Pay Scale

  • Base Rate: $20.90–$26.67 per hour
  • Starting pay is determined using our non-clinical pay scales, which feature 6 steps recognizing up to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay

Qualifications

Education

  • The Cook must have a current certification by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -Conference for Food Protection (CFP) or obtain within six (6) months of hire date, and renew upon expiration. This requirement may be met by obtaining a ServSafe Certification or a California Food Handler Certification.
  • Current Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read, write and follow verbal and written directions in English.
  • Must be able to work well with people and be willing to learn.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn therapeutic diet guidelines, and general quantity and quality food preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize patient Dietary Order report generated for each meal to prepare daily Production Sheet.
  • Preforms the basic principles of food preparation and service for AM and PM positions.
  • Responsible for the quantity, quality and nutritious and creative presentation of patient, guest and employee food.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Maintain organized and clean work area at all times
