We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Cook to join our dietary team. In this role, you will help prepare nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. You will play an important part in ensuring residents receive meals that meet both their dietary needs and personal preferences.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Assist the Dietary Manager with meal preparation and food production
  • Prepare and serve meals following approved menus and recipes
  • Ensure meals are prepared according to physician-ordered dietary restrictions and special diets
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion sizes
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and dining areas
  • Follow all food safety, infection control, and sanitation guidelines
  • Store food and supplies properly and safely
  • Assist with meal service and tray preparation as needed
  • Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment as assigned
  • Help ensure residents receive meals that meet their nutritional needs
  • Work collaboratively with dietary staff and other departments to provide excellent resident care

Qualifications

Preferred Candidates Will Have:

  • Reliable transportation
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Previous cooking or food service experience, preferably in a healthcare, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets
  • Compassion for the geriatric population
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
