ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for planning, shopping and cooking for all children in the program.
- Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and pantry, including appliances.
- Maintains DHS licensing standards at all times.
- Responsible for the storage and upkeep of all foods in refrigerators, freezers, pantries and cupboards.
- Maintains compliance of sanitation techniques according to Maricopa County Health Department.
- Maintains strict adherence for the menu as developed by a licensed nutritionist.
- Adheres to all CACFP requirements.
- Supports Center Manager with ordering kitchen supplies and food items.
- Prepares appropriate amounts for meals and snacks according to the menu.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the kitchen.
- Maintains appropriate records of food served at each meal.
- Meets regularly with Center Manager for individual supervision.
- Models Center’s expectation for sensitivity and competency relating to diversity and cultural awareness.
QualificationsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Education must consist of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have current food handler’s license or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card immediately upon hire (if there are any uncertainties whether an applicant may have to go through an appeal process: they are encouraged to complete that process prior to applying, as an invalid card will result in termination of employment)
- Must also be able to successfully complete a background check and drug screen.
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and pass an Agency driver’s test.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and needs of clients and vendors.
- Experience in institutional food service preferred
