Job Shift: WeekendsThe Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents, following dietary guidelines, menus, and special dietary needs. This role ensures food quality, safety, and presentation while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, dietary specifications, and resident preferences.
- Assist with menu planning, recipe preparation, and portion control.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Accommodate residents’ special dietary needs, allergies, and texture modifications as instructed by dietary staff or healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including utensils, equipment, and food storage areas.
- Collaborate with dietary team members to ensure timely and accurate meal service.
- Monitor inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize food waste.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols in food preparation and service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in institutional cooking, healthcare, or food service preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and dietary guidelines accurately.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
