Now is an exciting time to join the ContiTech Australia team. Due to continued growth, we have a rare opportunity on offer for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in Application Engineering based at our WA Branch in Wangara. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of and exposure to conveyor belts.

About the role

The Application Engineer will be developing and executing the Application Engineering activities within the sub team to support the Segment in achieving short- and long-term business objectives, increased profit and market growth. Regular travel is a requirement as part of this role.

As the Application Engineer you will:

• Provide technical support and solutions to internal and external stakeholders across APAC
• Conduct regular field inspections of belts, conveyor systems and other products to troubleshoot perceived problems for clients
• Apply product engineering tools, specify belt selection and requirements
• Provide comprehensive market and technological analysis which will contribute to business strategies
• Track belt performance and collate BIG DATA for analysis
• Conducts internal root cause analysis in house or on site
• Create site visit reports and observes internal or external testing
• Coordinate and conducts field trials and follow-up for product performance evaluation
• Build a global network and participate in projects worldwide
• Perform onsite inspections to review product performance and initiates product optimization or development projects
• Provide mentoring to team members from other departments on products & systems
• Support the Head of Application Engineering and Team Lead Application Engineering Conveying Solutions

About you:

You will have comprehensive product knowledge relating to conveyor belts and systems, ideally with a mechanical engineering background. Additionally, you will have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with external clients.

We will also look favorably up on the following:

• University degree in Engineering or Science (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
• 2-3 years professional experience in project management, technical sales, application engineering, technical consulting or R&D
• Project management experience specifically within an international business environment is highly desirable
• Experience working with intercultural and interdisciplinary teams
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Advanced computer literacy skills, in particular Microsoft Office 365
