Conveyancer – Bicester

Location: Bicester (main office based), with occasional travel to head office

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm

Holiday: 23 days (pro rata) + your birthday off + Christmas closure (discretionary, decided annually)

Experience: 4+ years PQE, with scope to progress into an Assistant Manager role

Salary: To be determined based on candidate experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Conveyancer to join our team in Bicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven fee earner with 4+ years' post-qualification experience who is looking to take the next step in their career, with a clear route towards an Assistant Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering fee earning work to a high standard, in line with company policies, CLC regulations and Lender Handbooks
  • Managing caseload effectively using case management (workflow) systems, meeting exchange and billing targets
  • Conducting files professionally and always in the best interests of clients
  • Maintaining awareness of AML requirements and following company procedures
  • Working with online legal case management software and other technology-led systems, including source of funds and electronic ID verification
  • Supporting senior colleagues in developing the introducer network and nurturing existing referrer relationships
  • Understanding billing structures, correct fee charging, and the commercial impact of writing off costs
  • Promoting the business's culture, vision and values
  • Attending meetings, conferences, training and corporate events as required (occasionally outside core hours)
  • Participating in continuous professional development and mentoring junior team members
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of new build transactions

General Duties

  • Researching information and liaising with clients and third parties by phone, letter, email and in person
  • Handling all legal aspects of a file, including enquiries and search review/reporting, with a working understanding of title checks for both Freehold and Leasehold matters
  • Meeting the high standards and tight deadlines associated with new build transactions
  • Taking instructions from clients
  • Obtaining and checking Land Registry documents or title deeds
  • Drafting and checking sales contracts and agreeing terms with the other party's conveyancer
  • Managing all financial aspects of a transaction
  • Exchanging contracts and completing transactions
  • For leasehold matters: identifying relevant third parties, requesting leasehold packs, reviewing documentation for completeness, and understanding post-completion requirements
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and GDPR compliance at all times
  • Working well under pressure, managing deadlines, using own initiative, and supervising team members where appropriate
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties as required
