Job Description

Join us as a Controls Testing Manager

  • In this role, you’ll support and be responsible for the delivery of the regular testing of key controls and files, and the completion of targeted control reviews for a franchise or function
  • Working closely with the relevant business areas and other business controls teams, you’ll make sure that findings from reviews are escalated and robust action plans are agreed and driven forward with key stakeholders
  • This highly collaborative role provides an opportunity to develop your skillset and raise your profile across the bank
  • We're offering this role at vice president level

What you'll do

We’ll look to you to ensure the timely completion of all appropriate risk issues, including driving forward appropriate action plans to close down or mitigate operational risks, and drive clear improvements and enhancements to the testing approach. Accuracy will be key as you develop, maintain and complete key controls testing and targeted control reviews within agreed timescales and methodologies.

On top of this, you’ll be:

  • Leading, managing, coaching and developing your team to include process compliance
  • Devising and undertaking first line of defence tests and reviews in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Identifying weaknesses and gaps in existing credit, operational and regulatory processes, policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a full audit trail and records to support review conclusions, stored in accordance with the organisation’s records management policy
  • Making sure that testing activity in the business has minimal impact on the teams involved

The skills you'll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience of working in a banking or wealth management environment and will demonstrate a good understanding of financial products as well as an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory rules and guidance, operational, credit and market risk principles and processes which govern the investment business.

We’ll also expect you to have a level 4 investment qualification, covering the advice areas of securities, derivatives and retail investment products, such as an Investment Advice diploma.

You’ll also bring:

  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • Lead and manage control testing teams to ensure effective planning, execution, and timely delivery.
  • Review and challenge test workpapers and findings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of control testing frameworks and processes.
  • Apply hands-on expertise in automated and IT-dependent control testing (ITACs), with experience in internal audit, risk management, or controls testing.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • A track record and experience of working in continuous improvement environments
