Toledo Tool & Die is adding Controls Technicians to our team to support our continued growth.

This is a full-time position based Toledo, Ohio. We offer competitive wages, growth opportunities, and a clean, safe work environment.

1st SHIFT: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:00PM

2nd SHIFT: Monday-Friday, 2:00PM-10:00PM

3rd SHIFT: Sunday-Thursday, 10:00PM-6:AM

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, vision systems, sensors, safety circuits, and network/communication systems on the automated weld cells.
  • Diagnose and resolve industrial robot faults (e.g., FANUC / Nachi) — teaching and adjusting points, recovering programs, and restoring cells to production.
  • Support weld-equipment controls, including weld power sources/timers, torch and tip systems, and related automation.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC/ladder logic, robot programs, and controls documentation to isolate faults.
  • Make controlled program and parameter changes under established change control, and validate before returning equipment to production.
  • Respond rapidly to downtime events, perform structured root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to restore uptime.
  • Execute preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM) maintenance on controls and automation systems per schedule.
  • Support new-equipment installation, automation integration, and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with maintenance technicians and the tool crib attendant to obtain the spare parts and consumables (sensors, etc.) needed for repairs.
  • Accurately document work orders, fault findings, PM records, and equipment history in the CMMS.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field preferred.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment screening (background check and drug screen).
  • Identified candidates must be able to work overtime (daily, weekends and holidays).
  • 3+ years of industrial controls / automation maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (robotic welding or complex-automation strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on PLC troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley / Siemens) and industrial robot experience (e.g., FANUC / ABB).
  • Working knowledge of servo, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, vision systems, sensors, and industrial networks.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and robot programs.
  • Familiarity with LOTO/electrical safety, IATF 16949, and CMMS systems.
  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds.
  • Work as a team, good communication skills, basic math skills, physical dexterity.
  • Must have valid drivers' license
