Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of our production and packaging equipment. This role is responsible for electrical and controls troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, parts procurement, and providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain control systems and automated equipment, including extruders, dryers, pneumatic conveying systems, packaging lines, palletizers, and material handling systems.

  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to resolve recurring equipment issues and improve reliability.

  • Train operators and team members on control systems and equipment functionality.

  • Maintain control system backups, documentation, work orders, and maintenance records.

  • Assist with spare parts inventory and requisitioning.

  • Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or two-year technical degree in a related field.

  • 3+ years of controls and automation experience, preferably in food manufacturing.

  • Experience reading electrical schematics and blueprints.

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, touchscreens, and VFDs.

  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and system integration.

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership or team lead experience.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and food manufacturing systems.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, Siemens SIMATIC, or WinCC.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, OEE, and 5S principles.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

  • Work in hot, humid, cold, and dusty environments.

  • Climb ladders and work from lifts at heights up to 35+ feet.

  • Perform repetitive grasping, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
