About Prime

About Prime Controls

Prime Controls is a system integration firm that automates large-scale industrial processes. Our field technicians work across a range of industries — from water treatment to manufacturing — solving complex instrumentation and controls challenges on real customer sites. If you like variety, hands-on problem solving, and working with the latest PLC and HMI platforms, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, install, and commission instrumentation and automation systems at customer sites
  • Diagnose instrumentation functionality and I/O operation; repair using a variety of meters and calibration tools
  • Set up new instrumentation and calibrate to specifications using schematics and drawings
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on test apparatus and peripheral equipment
  • Work alongside engineers to test and commission PLC systems, including program logic validation and start-up troubleshooting
  • Program PLCs and HMIs; identify parts and components for system integration projects
  • Develop and assemble project documentation and user manuals

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as an instrumentation or controls technician
  • Solid understanding of AC and DC drives and speed feedback devices
  • Working knowledge of temperature control components and PID/control loop theory
  • Proficiency with PLC and HMI systems, including program navigation, controlled manipulation, and communications drivers
  • Strong grasp of Ethernet communications and industrial network connections
  • Ability to diagnose defective components, motors, drives, and electronic devices using diagnostic equipment
  • Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings

Schedule & Compensation

  • $40–$45/hr based on experience ($104K–$117K annually at 50 hrs/week)
  • Consistent 50-hour work week — predictable income without depending on variable overtime
  • Travel to customer sites as required; mileage and expenses covered

Why Prime Controls

  • Work on diverse, complex projects — no two days look the same
  • Collaborative team of engineers and technicians who invest in each other
  • Exposure to a wide range of industrial sectors and equipment platforms
  • Travel to customer sites gives you hands-on experience you can’t get in a shop environment
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
