
The Controls Software Engineering Leader is responsible for leading the development, integration, and lifecycle management of turbine application software across GE Vernova's onshore and offshore wind fleets, including Haliade, Cypress, Sierra, and legacy platforms. This role owns the strategic and operational leadership of a combined software engineering organization, driving both day-to-day delivery and the long-term integration of codebases, architectures, and development practices across formerly separate onshore and offshore teams.
This leader will lead a global team of controls engineers that is responsible for software development of multiple control platforms (MarkVIe, Beckhoff, Bachmann, ECO) and is accountable for unifying technical approaches, accelerating cross-fleet innovation, and building a high-performing, integrated engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Integration
Lead the technical and organizational integration of onshore and offshore turbine software teams, driving convergence of codebases, architectures, and development standards
Define and execute a multi-year roadmap for software platform consolidation and harmonization across all turbine fleets
Partner with cross-functional leaders (Controls Platform and Instrumentation, System Integration, DevOps & Tools, Product Management, Quality) to align software strategy with broader product and business goals needed for new turbine designs or to optimize the running fleet.
Identify and drive opportunities for code reuse, modularity, and scalability across platforms to reduce complexity and accelerate time-to-market
Operational Excellence
Own end-to-end delivery of turbine application software for Haliade, Cypress, Sierra, and legacy fleets, ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are met
Manage, forecast, and schedule team workload to meet both the overall software release schedule and the needs of the individual New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Manage software development across multiple control platforms (MarkVIe, Beckhoff, Bachmann, ECO), ensuring on-time delivery of the turbine application software Flightboard(s)
Drive continuous improvement in software development processes, tools, and methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD) to improve efficiency and quality
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and GE Vernova engineering practices
People Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, develop, and retain a combined team of software engineers and controlled title holders across onshore and offshore product lines
Build a unified team culture that leverages the strengths of both legacy organizations and fosters collaboration, innovation, and accountability
Conduct talent assessments, succession planning, and development planning for SPB1+ direct reports in alignment with GE Vernova talent processes
Create clear career pathways and growth opportunities for team members across the expanded scope
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
Serve as the primary software engineering voice in cross-functional product development forums
Partner with Product Management, Systems Engineering, and Fleet Performance Management to translate customer and operational needs into software requirements and roadmaps
Influence enterprise-level decisions on software tooling, platforms, and architecture
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing engineering teams
Proven experience leading software development for complex, safety-critical systems (industrial controls, embedded systems, or similar domains)
Demonstrated ability to lead organizational integration or transformation initiatives
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and modern DevOps practices
Experience managing teams across multiple locations and product lines
Experience with new controls algorithm development, implementation and validation techniques: Software in the Loop (SIL), Hardware in the Loop (HIL)
Experience in design and / or modeling of controls systems
Familiarity and practical experience with agile methodologies, or LEAN processes.
Preferred:
Experience in wind energy, power generation, or industrial automation
Design or service experience with real time control systems such as MarkVIe, Beckhoff, Bachmann, or similar
Track record of driving technical architecture consolidation or platform harmonization]
Experience implementing control algorithms using Simulink or a comparable software tool
Demonstrated ability to plan multiple concurrent projects including work breakdown and resource estimation
Design experience in Wind Turbine controls, operability, or systems.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $152,400.00 and $254,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
