Experienced Controls Programmer

Rochester, NY | Full-Time

Build the Systems Behind Modern Process Automation

Our client is seeking an Experienced Controls Programmer to design, program, troubleshoot, and commission automation systems for customers in the fluid process industry. This is an opportunity to work on projects from concept through startup, collaborate with customers and engineers, and expand your expertise across PLCs, HMIs, electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control.

What You’ll Do

• Develop PLC and HMI programs for industrial automation systems
• Design system architecture and low-voltage electrical systems
• Program Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC, and Logix platforms
• Develop HMI applications using FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, Ignition, or similar platforms
• Design electrical schematics, panel layouts, and pneumatic drawings using AutoCAD
• Troubleshoot PLCs, electrical systems, instrumentation, VFDs, motors, relays, and control equipment
• Configure and troubleshoot field instrumentation
• Perform electrical I/O checkout and assist with field startups
• Read and work from P&IDs and electrical drawings
• Support machinery safety circuits and emergency-stop control systems
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements and deliver automation solutions
• Travel throughout the U.S. for project startups as needed

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
• PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC, or Logix
• HMI design experience
• Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, or similar industrial networks
• Experience with low-voltage electrical design and control panels
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using a Fluke meter
• Strong instrumentation knowledge
• AutoCAD experience creating electrical drawings and panel layouts
• Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, transformers, relays, metering, and PLC systems
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Valid driver's license
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
