We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Controls Engineer to provide technical support and leadership for industrial control systems used in manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for improving system performance, reliability, and efficiency through advanced troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Controls Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, lead technical efforts, and support operational excellence by leveraging data-driven decision-making and strong engineering fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading automation or capital improvement projects
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, OEE, and equipment availability
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving methodologies (A3, 8D, Ishikawa)
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial controls within a manufacturing environment
  • Conversational English (required)
  • Proven experience managing teams of 20–25 people
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming (ControlLogix, MicroLogix)
  • Experience programming HMIs (PanelView Plus) and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with Ethernet/IP and DeviceNet networks
  • Experience with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems, control and relay logic, and electronics
  • Knowledge in TPM methodology
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD for schematics is a plus
  • Self-directed and capable of working with minimal supervision


The Controls Engineer will develop and maintain control system standards and configurations for new and existing manufacturing equipment. This includes overseeing installation, commissioning, and validation of control systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with operational requirements.

The role involves implementing programming changes to improve equipment performance, analyzing manufacturing processes to identify automation opportunities, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Controls Engineer will also maintain and update technical documentation, including control logic, schematics, and system configurations.

Responsibilities include leading troubleshooting efforts using structured problem-solving methodologies, improving equipment reliability through data analysis, and driving initiatives based on key metrics such as MTTR, MTBF, availability, and OEE. The role will also support predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance strategies.

Additionally, the Controls Engineer will train production and maintenance personnel on system operation, diagnostics, and programming, while collaborating with tooling, engineering, and operations teams on new equipment and process development. The position requires managing and coordinating technical teams, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and contributing to long-term automation and manufacturing strategies.
