All about the role:
The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting the automation and robotic systems used within the factory, including designing, programming and troubleshooting. This role ensures equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably to support production goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and program PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems, including ancillary devices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot automation equipment, robotics, sensors, and industrial networks (profinet, Profibus, industrial ethernet)
• Implement and support safety systems, including interlocks, guarding, and safety PLC functions.
• Lead upgrades and commissioning of new equipment and provide technical documentation and training.
Skills & Experience
• Experience with PLCs, HMI’s (Siemens, Mitsubishi), and industrial networks.
• Strong problem solving skills in automated or manufacturing environments, including responding to breakdowns
• Understanding of electrical schematics, machine safety, and control system design.
• Updating and maintaining electrical drawings and system documentation including programs
• Experience installing and programming Vision Sysems (Cognex, Sick, Omron) highly regarded but not essential.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Project management experience.
• 3 years minimum industrial experience
