
Purpose of the role
To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Join us at Barclays as a 1LoD (First Line of Defence) Control Partner – COO & Functions. In this role, you will be responsible for making strong analytical control judgements, with attention to detail and the ability to connect the dots across organisational structures, frameworks, processes, and regulatory expectations. You will form an independent risk view on organisational risks and control remediation activities, supported by data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and a solid understanding of internal control frameworks, while operating in a fast‑paced environment and managing multiple priorities effectively.
You will also support senior forums (e.g. Committees or Boards) with clear, decision‑focused reporting, and help build and interpret management information (MI) to identify risk trends, themes, and emerging issues. The role requires strong governance discipline, including maintaining audit‑ready documentation and clear audit trails, while working closely with 1LoD, 2LoD, and 3LoD (Audit) stakeholders to provide credible, evidence‑based challenge and support robust control outcomes.
