Job Description

Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. Our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Support business units and corporate functions in interpreting and applying existing accounting standards and the firm’s accounting policies to transactions and corporate-level activities
  • Utilize U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) literature to support accounting policy analysis and application
  • Monitoring and interpreting emerging technical accounting issues under U.S. GAAP and support the implementation of new and existing disclosure requirements in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings
  • Contribute to the development and periodic updates of the firm’s accounting policies
  • Partner with SEC Reporting and Legal Entity Controller teams to ensure accuracy, consistency and investor relevancy of financial statement disclosures
  • Deliver training and guidance on emerging accounting standards and firm-wide policy application

Minimum education requirements/degree and field & minimum years of experience required:

Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.

OR

Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.

Skills and/or Licenses Required to Perform the Job:

Prior experience must include five (5) years of experience with a Master’s degree OR seven (7) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree with each of the following:

  • Technical accounting matters involving the adoption and application of Accounting Standards Codification (such as ASC 805, 810, ASC 815, or ASC 606), including conducting research based on ASC and industry guides and preparing technical accounting memoranda for complex accounting issues.
  • Experience with M&A (business combinations) and/or Digital Assets a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects including time-sensitive matters, providing accounting research support, while working independently on assigned technical accounting matters and collaborating internally to share findings and resolve accounting questions.
  • Assisting with the preparation or review of SEC reporting including 10-K and 10-Q filings, with a focus on technical accounting areas.
  • Assisting with training sessions on technical accounting topics.
  • Monitoring emerging accounting and reporting standards to assess and communicate potential impacts.
  • CPA is required.
