Job Description

The Controller Americas, operating as a key member of the global accounting and the Americas Region leadership team, will provide management and leadership for the accounting teams in Brazil, Trinidad, the United States and other future locations. This position will lead oversight of the finance function in the Americas region and partner with Corporate Accounting and the EAMEA Accounting groups to ensure consistent global adherence to financial cost controls, proper accounting and financial reporting in compliance with internal controls / SOX while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation supporting finance transformation initiatives.

Key Tasks

  • Management of day-to-day accounting team responsibilities, tasks and project related efforts for operations in the Americas region, including the Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, U.S. and other future locations to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of management reports and financial reporting.
  • Management of payroll processing and reporting for the United States.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, payroll, cash deposits, customer billing and accounts receivable in the Americas region.
  • Ownership of internal control and SOX compliance for all operations in the Americas region.
  • Ownership of the monthly close process in the Americas Region, ensuring timely and accurately completion of all associated tasks, accruals, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Main contact and liaison for external and internal audit activities related to Americas Region.
  • Develop and mentor accounting staff to build their professional career and maximize potential.
  • Assist Decision Support with oversight over the Americas Region with annual business unit plans, the ongoing business unit forecasting processes, accounting support for new tenders and accounting support for business analysis.
  • Assist Tax and Legal departments as needed in regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Assist in and / or lead other special projects as needed
  • Highlights exceptions and any areas of concern with recommended solutions.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Prior experience in Regional Accounting Controller role a plus
  • Previous supervisory experience; competent managing, inspiring and delegating to staff
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, Blackline and Workday a plus
