Position Title: Controller

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for leading and managing all financial, accounting, cost, tax, internal control, compliance, and international trade functions of the organization. This position ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial information, supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis, safeguards company assets, and drives operational and financial excellence while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and the Brunswick Code of Ethics, acting with honesty, integrity, fairness, and accountability in all business activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations along with related import and export requirements.
  • Prepare, review, analyze, and report accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure alignment with financial objectives.
  • Manage accounting operations, cost accounting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions and profitability improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Support capital expenditure requests and capital planning processes.
  • Conduct financial feasibility studies and investment analyses for new products, projects, and business opportunities.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and inventory accuracy
  • Support all departments by providing financial information and business insights.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
  • Oversee compliance activities and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Establish and maintain procedures and controls that comply with Mexican and U.S. customs regulations regarding imports and exports of raw materials, finished goods, machinery, equipment, and regulated materials.
  • Apply rules of origin and free trade agreements (USMCA/T-MEC, Article 303, Article 404, and others as applicable).
  • Coordinate and oversee all required permits, certifications, and regulatory filings with government agencies.
  • Review and ensure proper payment of duties and taxes related to import and export activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate crossing of raw materials and finished goods through customs processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customs records and documentation.
  • Review and update tariff classifications to optimize duty savings opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance and effectiveness of Information Technology financial controls and systems.
  • Coordinate compliance with all import/export regulations affecting materials and equipment.
  • Lead, develop, coach, evaluate, and provide performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance organization.
  • Participate as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.
  • Identify financial, operational, compliance, and business risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Drive financial transformation initiatives, process automation, and digitalization projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and company policies.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CMA, MBA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting and financial management.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in finance, accounting, controllership, or related functions.
  • Experience in multinational manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Mexican and U.S. accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, customs compliance, and international trade requirements.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Dynamics, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
