Controller – Your Job Duties

As Controller, you will lead the accounting operations for multiple entities and divisions while managing and coaching a team of 4 to 5 accounting support staff.

You will:

• Own the month end and year end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations and preparation of accurate financial statements
• Establish and maintain a consistent and efficient month end close process
• Manage accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities (including operating companies, property management entities and an international sales)
• Manage and reconcile intercompany accounting activity and transactions
• Review transactional accounting activity completed by accounts payable and accounts receivable staff, ensuring accuracy and appropriate follow through
• Work hands on within the general ledger and accounting records, researching discrepancies and completing accounting work when needed
• Provide timely and accurate financial statements and financial information to management including identifying areas for improvement with the financials / areas to improve business operations
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, financial reporting, controls and overall department efficiency

Controller – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)

You have:

• Prior experience working in a hands on Controller role with direct responsibility for closing the books at month end and preparing financial statements
• Prior experience owning month end close, including journal entries, reconciliations and month end close checklists
• Prior experience managing accounting across multiple entities and handling intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Prior experience leading, managing, coaching and developing accounting staff
• Desire/enjoyment for working with a privately held, family owned or closely held business environment – you enjoy working with a close team in a more casual environment
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
• Hands on approach – you like rolling up your sleeves in addition to being the leader
• Strong organization and follow through – you are very organized in how you structure your day to accomplish your goals and keep track of many moving parts

You might have:

• Prior accounting experience in manufacturing, recycling, scrap
• Prior experience using QuickBooks Desktop
• CPA or CMA designation

Controller – Benefits for You

Your compensation will be $160,000 to $190,000 + , and eligible for performance based bonus. You will be paid weekly, receive a full suite of medical, dental and vision insurance options and a 401k plan with employer contribution.
