​​The Controller serves as a strategic finance leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities for SunPower. This role drives the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and builds scalable accounting infrastructure to support rapid growth and acquisitions. The Controller partners cross-functionally with Treasury, FP&A, IT, and executive leadership to provide financial insights, strengthen internal controls, and develop a high-performing accounting team. ​

Essential Duties:   

​​Financial Close & Reporting

  • ‚ÄãLead and standardize the monthly and quarterly close process across business units, targeting a 5-day close
  • ‚ÄãDrive completion and accuracy of month-end close activities
  • ‚ÄãPrepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • ‚ÄãOversee monthly flux analysis, accrual methodologies, and journal entry review
  • ‚ÄãPrepare audit-ready financial statements and footnotes
  • ‚ÄãImplement automation initiatives to reduce manual processes

‚ÄãConsolidation & Controls

  • ‚ÄãStandardize consolidation and reporting processes
  • ‚ÄãDevelop scalable internal controls in preparation for SOX compliance
  • ‚ÄãEstablish and maintain a practical internal control and enterprise risk management framework
  • ‚ÄãEnsure adherence to accounting policies and company specifications

‚ÄãDecision Support & Strategic Partnership

  • ‚ÄãProvide analytical insights on cost of revenue, supply chain spending, pricing, and strategic initiatives
  • ‚ÄãPartner with IT to strengthen financial systems and controls
  • ‚ÄãEstablish a reporting cadence highlighting key business drivers and actionable insights

‚ÄãTreasury & Cash Management Support

  • ‚ÄãCollaborate with Treasury on policy development and banking practices
  • ‚ÄãSupport cash flow forecasting and reporting
  • ‚ÄãEnsure timely completion of bank reconciliations
  • ‚ÄãPartner with shared services to optimize AP/AR processes and collections

‚ÄãTax & Compliance

  • ‚ÄãOversee domestic tax compliance and regulatory requirements
  • ‚ÄãManage external tax advisors to optimize tax positions

‚ÄãTalent Development

  • ‚ÄãBuild and lead a high-performing accounting team
  • ‚ÄãDevelop training programs and documentation
  • ‚ÄãProvide ongoing coaching, accountability, and performance feedback

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • ‚Äã‚ÄãBachelor‚Äôs degree in accounting
  • ‚ÄãCPA, preferred, but not required, with experience from a Big 4 accounting firm or extensive corporate accounting experience.
  • ‚ÄãMinimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • ‚ÄãStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (ASC 205, ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842).
  • ‚ÄãFamiliarity with Netsuite, Billing, Corporate card, Procurement, and Financial Close Tools
  • ‚ÄãStrong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • ‚ÄãExceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • ‚ÄãAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with very little guidance

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regular periods of sitting or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.‚ÄØ
