What You'll Do:
The Controller supports the Director of Finance and Accounting in managing the overall daily accounting operations of the resort. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely owner distributions while overseeing accounting staff and maintaining system integrations between operational platforms and the ERP system. Thie position serves as a key partner to operations, property management, and condominium owners, ensuring financial transparency and operational support. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with board members, owners, and staff. Full-time, year-round position with benefits eligibility. This position is located on premises in Breckenridge, CO.
Position starts at $125,000 - $140,000 annual salary DOE
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Performance manage 2-4 direct reports
- - Set goals and expectations
- - Provide feedback and identify strengths/weaknesses
- - Create improvement plans and implement corrective action as necessary
- Train, develop and mentor finance & accounting staff
- Review and approve timecards, time off requests, etc.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
- Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations including owner account, group and wholesale AR, daily revenue and cashiering and general ledger.
- Support the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with Company policies and GAAP.
Owner Accounting and Rental Program Administration
- Oversee preparation and distribution of monthly owner statements for condominium rental participants.
- Ensure accurate allocation of rental revenue, management fees and housekeeping and maintenance charges.
- Manage owner reserve balances and monthly distributions.
- Maintain accurate accounting for owner liabilities and rental clearing accounts.
HOA and Association Financial Coordination
- Coordinate accounting activities related to condominium associations and shared operating expenses.
- Assist with accounting for common area expenses and cost allocations between HOA and hotel operations.
Owner Relations and Reporting
- Serve as a finance contact for owner accounting inquiries.
- Support the preparation of year-end owner tax reporting (1099s).
- Provide financial explanations related to rental revenue, distributions, and program changes.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience – required
- CPA or CMA - preferred
- 6+ years of progressive financial management experience - required
- 3+ years in a resort, HOA, or hospitality environment - required
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Profitsword, Inventory Systems, Property Management, or similar); strong Excel and data analysis skills – required
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and board-level financial reports.
- Proficient in English - written and spoken – required
