Job Description

Blue Trust is seeking a strategic, detail and data-driven Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven role directing accounting operations, implementing controls and policies adhering to GAAP and regulatory requirements, overseeing treasury management and multi-unit close and reporting processes while also collaborating with the CFO and leadership to forecast, budget and drive strategic initiatives. This role develops and manages accounting staff and ensures operational excellence across all financial functions and business units.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provides leadership in developing and directing accounting staff, including oversight through subordinate managers when appropriate.
  • Implements efficient controls, policies, and procedures that meet GAAP and regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to schedules and deadlines.
  • Directs all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, close processes, systems maintenance, compliance/payroll support, and treasury functions in collaboration and coordination with the CFO.
  • Plays a key role in budgeting and forecasting processes across the organization.
  • Monitors and continuously improves accounting systems and processes in coordination with field professionals and business units. Ensures accuracy, proficiency, and effective use of Excel, general ledger platforms, and related financial applications.
  • Coordinates analytics and internal/external reporting across multiple units, evaluating the integrity of data and anticipating trends to advise leadership on projections and key insights.
  • Oversees audit preparation and support, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requirements.
  • Supports valuation processes and related deliverables.
  • Oversees procurement processes and compliance with procurement policies.
  • Administers lease accounting in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Identifies and delivers value-added financial analysis and insights to support decision-making. Provides leadership to related activities and projects, collaborating with team members to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
  • Approaches work, relationships, and team leadership in alignment with the Company’s Core Values and leadership principles.
  • Understands and supports the counsel and biblical basis upon which Blue Trust serves its client base.
  • Maintains the highest compliance standards by adhering to Human Resources guidelines, Compliance policies and procedures, professional designation requirements, and industry regulatory standards to mitigate risk to the company.

  • Personal integrity, ability to discreetly handle confidential data, and demonstrated integration of company principles into day-to-day behavior and actions
  • Strong organizational and proactive planning skills

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Business Management required
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of accounting or skilled financial services experience required
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI and other key Microsoft applications preferred

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CPA strongly preferred
