Requirements

The Controller will assist in directing the financial operations of the company including budgeting, planning, investing, and other financial matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
• Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Files quarterly and annual report.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Eight to ten years of related experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CPA designation strongly recommended.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, account statements, tax documents, financial records, financial analysis, and contract negotiations. Ability to speak effectively to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of algebra.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems and establish facts. Ability to interpret instructions in mathematical form.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual will have computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel in addition to QuickBooks experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, or reach with hands and arms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The duties of this position are performed in an office environment under temperature-controlled conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
