Angott Search Group has been retained by a growing, highly regarded Michigan-based community bank to identify a Controller. This opportunity arises due to the planned promotion of the current Controller, reflecting the bank’s strong leadership development and internal advancement culture.
The Controller will play a key role in overseeing the bank’s accounting and financial reporting functions while supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. This position leads a team of five and partners closely with executive leadership on financial operations, planning, and reporting. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions
Prepare and review call reports and regulatory filings
Lead monthly financial close and board reporting packages
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Support select IT and system-related initiatives impacting finance and reporting
Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the accounting team
Qualifications
7–10+ years of progressive accounting or auditing experience
Prior experience within a financial institution required
Previous Controller experience and/or CPA preferred, but not required
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
